Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems, and small rocket motors.
We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable project engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for a Sustainment Proposal and Long Range Planning Lead in the Boost Control System (BCS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) that, collaborates well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and can work independently and lead all sustainment proposal and long range planning efforts for the ongoing D5LE program that the BCS IPT supports. In this role, you will represent the BCS IPT to our Navy partner and LM Senior Leadership, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The BCS IPT is responsible for all cost, schedule, and technical aspects of the requalification, production, sustainment, and management of the Thrust Vector Control (TVC), Small Motors, and Aerospike Subsystems on the Trident II D5 Missile.
The BCS IPT is actively supporting the D5LE program through sustainment, production, and requalification activities and long range planning and proposal efforts are needed to continue this support for multiple commodities. As the Sustainment Proposal and LRP Lead for the BCS IPT, you will be empowered to determine the needs of the IPT for the next ~20 years and propose the efforts that the IPT will need to execute on to provide stated support to the D5LE Program. You will generate labor Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Supplier Statements of Work (SSOWs), Technical Evaluations, CDRL’s, and multiple other proposal/contract artifacts. You will also maintain a Cost Model, plan, prepare, present, and execute long range planning events throughout the year(s), and ensure that our long range plan supports customer needs and translates into successful proposal activities.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in proposals, preferably government proposals (BOEs, SOWs, supplier proposal evaluations)
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Desired skills
- Experience with FBM processes and products
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing
- Experience as a principal engineer or project lead
- Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative
