POSITION:   McKinney Vento Instructor - Grant Funded - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY (temporary/hourly assignment)

 

Reports To:   McKinney Vento Site Leader       

 

SALARY:     

  • Current SMCPS certified/licensed teachers will be paid $40.00 per hour.
  • Current SMCPS employees with a bachelor's degree in a related field will be paid their hourly rate of pay.

 

LOCATION:  Department of Student Services/Various Sites               

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

Qualified applicants, including current employees of St. Mary's County Public Schools, must complete a TalentEd online application.   In addition to the online application, any support documentation (copy of certification where applicable) must be scanned and uploaded to the TalentEd application.  The online application and any support documentation must clearly demonstrate that the applicant meets the minimum qualifications, including information about the applicant’s background, experience, and professional qualifications.  Failure to submit all required documentation will result in your application being considered incomplete.  Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the selection committee for review.  All online applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Following a screening of credentials, interviews will be scheduled. NATURE OF WORK:

The instructor will work under the direction of the SMCPS McKinney Vento Site Leader. The instructor will provide developmentally appropriate instruction using evidence-based materials and research-verified programs in language and literacy, mathematical thinking, social foundations, and physical development and well-being. Instructors will communicate with families.

  • Possess knowledge of the programs, policies, and procedures of the St. Mary’s County Public Schools
  • Ability to implement small group instruction and perform assessments
  • Ability to maintain programming documentation 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborates with McKinney Vento Site Leader, instructors, paraeducators, and other hourly staff to identify student instructional needs
  • Maintains required documentation, including lesson plans and student data as required
  • Implements the program with fidelity
  • Collaborates with colleagues, including co-instructors and paraeducators, under the direction of the McKinney Vento Site Leader, to develop purposeful, developmentally appropriate instruction
  • Prepares appropriate learning activities for identified students
  • Monitors and evaluates the progress of each student
  • Maintains student progress records and submits required reports in a timely manner
  • Maintains communication with the parents of students in summer school
  • Attends, as necessary, workshops and in-service planning sessions
  • Performs other duties as assigned  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • SMCPS Teacher OR
  • SMCPS employees with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (including, but not limited to, Special Education, ESOL, Media Specialist) can be considered

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Temporary/hourly position for school year 2025-2026.

 

SALARY GRADE RANGE:

  • Current SMCPS certified/licensed teachers will be paid $40.00 per hour.
  • Current SMCPS employees with a bachelor's degree in a related field will be paid their hourly rate of pay.

BARGAINING UNIT ELIGIBILITY:  Not Eligible
