Position Criteria:
- Valid Iowa teaching licnse, preferred

- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Criteria:
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with production staff to include the musical’s Vocal Music Director, Pit Director, Technical Director, Choreographer, and Performing Arts Center Manager.
- Determine show dates.
- Determine what musical will best suit the needs and abilities of likely student performers, production team members, and pit musicians in collaboration with production staff.
- Secure the licensing/performance rights, librettos, scores, and pit orchestrations for chosen musical.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and copyright agreements, including any photography, videography, and publicity restrictions.
- Use the district’s facility reservations platform to reserve audition, rehearsal, dressing room, and performance facilities for all needed dates and times.
- Serve as the primary contact for communication with students, parents and guardians, administrators, and other stakeholders as well as vendors.
- Create and communicate rehearsal and production schedules based on rehearsal and performance facility availability in collaboration with production staff; ensure members of the production staff are in attendance for all calls.
- Lead regular production meetings with production staff (and when possible, student production team leaders).
- Determine and communicate an itemized budget for the production process in collaboration with other production staff.
- Maintain financial accounts including the creation of purchase order requisitions and submission of invoices and receipts as directed by the bookkeeper.
- Determine projected production needs including but not limited to scenic, costuming, props, lighting, sound and microphones, and publicity needs in collaboration with other production staff (and when possible, student production team members).
- Prepare materials needed for auditions in collaboration with other production staff.
- Schedule and advertise audition information including dates, registration notices, crew sign-up, and any related informational meetings or workshops.
- Conduct auditions and call-backs.
- Cast the show in collaboration with production staff.
- Determine student production team roles and assignments in collaboration with production staff.
- Train student stage managers and production team in collaboration with production staff and Performing Arts Center Manager; training should include roles and responsibilities as well as safety and orientation to facility and its equipment.
- Collaborate with production staff (and when possible, student production team leaders) to design and build or purchase technical theatre needs including but not limited to scenic, costuming, props, lighting, sound, publicity, and front of house needs while adhering to budget limitations.
- Guide stage managers in the creation and communication of a daily rehearsal report.
- Conduct rehearsals and block the show in collaboration with, when applicable, the Choreographer.
- In collaboration with production staff (and when possible, student production team leaders), design publicity branding and logos, posters, and programs. Oversee the distribution of publicity materials.
- Set up ticketing using district’s preferred ticketing platform and communicate ticket purchasing information to the community via district platforms; coordinate publicity efforts with the district Communications Department.
- When possible, create and communicate opportunities for parent and guardian support, such as helping with the set, costumes, publicity, or front of house needs.
- Determine and communicate call times for tech and dress rehearsals as well as performances.
- Be present to supervise students beginning with the first call time, throughout the performance, and until the completion of post-show duties for each tech and dress rehearsal and each performance.
- Coordinate performance night needs with the Operations Department (such as door access, heating and cooling needs, and custodial services).
- Following the last performance, strike the show in collaboration with production staff and Performing Arts Center Manager.
- Conduct any post-show responsibilities with the online ticketing platform and secure proceeds for deposit into the activity account.
- Return any rented or borrowed materials including librettos and pit orchestrations as applicable.
- As needed, create and execute fundraisers and complete logistical responsibilities associated with a fundraising event (such as a dine-and-donate night at an area establishment, a youth workshop, etc).
