INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities)

This position is primarily responsible for prepping and welding the structural items including motor bases, decks, frames, storage brackets and miscellaneous brackets. Operators follow engineering drawings, work order information, Manufacturing Assembly Procedures, and other written and verbal specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering prints of all parts to be welded.
  • Layout work on welding tables as required.
  • Check the parts for quality and usability.
  • Write a requisition slip when materials are requested from stock.
  • Performs various welds as required using the established ANGI weld procedures for structural welding.
  • Mark the weldment for identification, and staged for the next operation.
  • Return unused materials to the rack. Scrap materials and unusable off falls are placed in the proper dumpster. Any material adjustments are made.
  • Maintain the welder and other related equipment in good working order.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, orderly and safe working environment at all times.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Works proficiently and accurately to control costs while maintaining high quality standards.
  • On-time shipping performance.

WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be proficient using various measure tools such as tape measures, scales, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Must be a self-starter. This position provides mentoring to uncertified structural welders (Welder I).

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED plus one year certificate from college or technical school, Welding Certificate preferred; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be fully certified to ANGI’s Fabrication Welding Procedures – AWS D1.1.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering prints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and angles.

Resoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft AX software.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the particular field.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under general supervision.

Other Qualifications:

  • Fork lift certification (will provide).

  • Certified to ANGI’s Fabrication Welding Procedures – AWS D1.1

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.

Specialized Equipment:

  • Overhead crane

  • Weld machines

  • Band saw
