The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill multiple vacancies for the part-time classification of Utility Maintenance Aide - Wastewater Operations in the Department of Utility Services. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual labor tasks associated with the routine maintenance and repair of water, sewer, and utility facilities; assists with general warehouse and inventory tasks; and performs related duties as assigned.

Position Information:
  • This is a part-time, at-will position
  • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)
  • This position is not eligible for any health insurance, or retirement benefits under the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) of Nevada, or pay increases

Position Duties

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, piping, and/or buildings or related experience.
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must obtain a Nevada Water Environmental Association (NVWEA) Restricted Grade I Wastewater Operator Certification within one (1) year of hire
  • Must obtain a Nevada Water Environmental Association (NVWEA) Restricted Grade I Plant Maintenance Technologist Certification within one (1) year of hire
  • Employee will be expected to complete assigned training courses through the City of Henderson's learning management system
  • All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents’ expense
  • Desirable: Experience in wastewater treatment, reclaimed distribution, lift stations or pretreatment
