At the Summit Area YMCA, we believe afterschool time should be more than just care—it should be an opportunity for kids to learn, explore, and thrive. We’re looking for a passionate, organized, and energetic Afterschool Site Coordinator to lead engaging programs and ensure a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for every child in our care during the 2025-26 school year.


This position is based off-site at a local elementary schools and is responsible for managing the afterschool program at that specific school location.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the lead staff member responsible for your assigned school site.
  • Be the primary point of contact for parents, building strong relationships and trust.
  • Lead a dynamic afterschool program that blends fun, learning, and enrichment for school-age children.
  • Plan and implement creative, thematic activities that inspire curiosity and growth.
  • Manage and maintain licensing documentation and children’s records for your site.
  • Supervise and mentor afterschool staff, ensuring they understand and deliver quality program standards.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, inventories, and incident reports.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for children and staff.
  • Communicate regularly with the Afterschool Director about program updates, challenges, and successes.
  • Act as an ambassador for the YMCA’s mission of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

Salary & Benefits:

The pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. This position is part time, scheduled to work Monday - Friday 2:30pm - 6:00pm. Position runs on the local school calendar, but staff are also expected to work holiday care during school vacations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have at least 1 years experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting or camping program.
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills, leadership and personnel qualities.
  • Must have or complete prior to active work NJCCIS trainings and NJCCIS “Understanding licensing”
  • Current CPR/ AED & First Aid certifications.
