Description

The Operations Manager position is responsible for reviewing existing internal controls and other compliance processes in place and make any necessary revisions or additions. This position participates in the analysis of the business’ risk and control environment to identify gaps and weaknesses and ensures that controls are properly executed within the retail business line. Collects and analyze data to detect weak controls, fraud and noncompliance with laws, regulations, and policies. Validates that internal systems are functioning as intended and limit/control risks to achieve credit union objectives.

Requirements

What will you be doing?

  • Review, provide feedback/guidance and coaching to team members, including retail leadership, on internal controls, technology, and audit compliance procedures. 
  • Review new and existing processes, procedures, policies and make recommendations for changes that modernize and create efficiencies for the retail environment. 
  • Lead and support the operations team to ensure proper alignment and execution of job responsibilities. Act as Subject Matter Expert for projects where appropriate.
  • Validate proper and timely completion of retail compliance audits and provide oversight of internal controls. Partner with the AVP of retail Operations/Call Center to review accountability and ensure proper steps are in place to address concerns, fix deficiencies and ensure consistency across branches, Lending Support, and Contact Center.
  • Reinforce core training attributes and ensure the operational integrity. Maintain internal systems relevant to internal controls. Effectively communicate new, updated or changing controls.
  • Responsible for collaborating with multiple departments, vendors, and leadership to maintain high level relationships including internal and external auditors or examiners.
  • Process Deceased account and POA documents received via remote channels ensuring accuracy and proper closure, disbursement, and entity changes. Manage Dormant and Escheat account process. Ensure mail processing is current and mail machines are in compliance and contracts are current.
  • Maintain relationships for vendors assigned to your department and ensure a knowledge of any compliance reviews, audits or updates.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience and 1-2 years of people management.
  • A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • A deep understanding of: laws, regulations, and rules governing deposits.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $79,000 depending on experience, education and qualifications.
