About This Opportunity
We are seeking Casual Veterinary Nurses to join the team at UQ Vets. These roles will provide high-quality nursing and technical services within the Small Animal Hospital and Equine Hospital, while also supporting the teaching of Undergraduate Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology students in a clinical environment.
About You
Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and/or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology plus at least 2 years nursing experience, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated ability to deliver and maintain high standards of professional veterinary nursing in all areas of nursing.
Comfortable working sole charge nurse over a range of shifts from day, afternoon, overnights, weekends and pubic holidays. Shift loadings apply to shifts outside of normal work hours.
High level organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly with the use of initiative and autonomy.
Good written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to use these skills in managing professional & operational relationships with colleagues, clients and students.
Knowledge of ethical requirements, principles and practices relevant to all areas of veterinary nursing.
Knowledge and application of relevant policies and procedures applicable to employment, including workplace health and safety, employment equity and anti-discrimination.
An effective team player who maintains effective working relationships in a team environment.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the field of veterinary nursing and willingness to participate in other professional service activities e.g., VNCA, community organisations, RSPCA, PetPEP (AVA).
Possess or be able to apply for a radiation license.
The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, right to work in Australia and mandatory immunisations.
Vaccinations and Immunisation
It is a condition of employment for this role that if you are required now or in the future, to work or interact in Queensland Health clinical facility; or in an equivalent clinical health facility; or health care role; or will be required to perform work tasks that put you at risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable disease you are required to be immunised against, and remain immunised against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in accordance with the University’s Vaccinations and Immunisation Guidelines (PPL 2.60.08). The employee is required to provide evidence of immunisation against VPDs.
