The incumbent will serve as a Truck Driver, responsible for transporting equipment, materials, personnel, and liquid hazardous wastes. This role requires the operation of various vehicles, including those over 26,000 lbs. gross combination weight rating (GCWR), often in challenging weather and terrain. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safe and compliant operation of the vehicle, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and managing the securement of cargo in strict accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position is critical to supporting project operations by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of resources and removal of waste.

This position requires a high degree of independence and adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards, including maintaining accurate hours of service logs and complying with all federal and state laws. The operator must possess extensive knowledge of DOT regulations, particularly concerning load securement (49 CFR 392) and hazardous materials transport. The work involves physical exertion during vehicle inspections and cargo handling and regular exposure to field conditions, traffic, and the risks associated with transporting hazardous materials, necessitating the consistent use of safety precautions and personal protective equipment.

 

Major Duties


Operates commercial motor vehicles, including those over 26,000 lbs. gross combination weight rating (GCWR), to transport equipment, materials, personnel, and liquid hazardous wastes to and from specified destinations. Ensures the safe operation of the vehicle in all types of weather conditions and on difficult terrains.

Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and is responsible for the safe loading, unloading, and securement of all cargo, including hazardous materials, in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (49 CFR 392).

Maintains accurate hours of service records in accordance with 49 CFR 395.1(e) and other required documentation. Adheres to all federal, state, and company safety policies and regulations, including passing required medical examinations, drug and alcohol screenings, and maintaining a Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements.

   




  

Job-Related Qualifications Required:

   

Must be able
  • High School Education / GED
  • Must have minimum three (3) years documented experience driving heavy duty trucks and commercial motor vehicles.  Must be able to satisfactorily pass the investigation of safety performance conducted by UCOR in accordance with 49 CFR 391.53 Subpart C.
  • Must have at a minimum a Tennessee State Type A Commercial Driver’s License with an X - Cargo Tanker with Hazmat Endorsement
  • Must be able to pass the DOT (49 CFR 391 Subpart H) and State of Tennessee medical and physical examination.
  • Must possess prior experience with operating all types of vehicles as required.
  • Must be able to pass an alcohol and drug screen
  • Must be able to obtain a DOE Q Security Clearance
