Salary Range: $40,000-$43,000


Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary School ABA Paraprofessional to join our team and provide direct support to students with autism and other developmental disabilities. The ABA Paraprofessional will work under the guidance of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other supervisory staff to implement individualized behavior plans, provide behavioral interventions, and promote positive social, academic, and emotional growth for students. This role involves direct interaction with students in both classroom and community settings, helping to facilitate learning and support their development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and interventions to support students with autism and other developmental disabilities.

  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by a BCBA or other supervisory staff.

  • Collect and record data on student progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions.

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during instructional time, transitions, and non-classroom activities.

  • Reinforce positive behaviors and assist in managing challenging behaviors using ABA principles and techniques.

  • Support students with social, communication, and daily living skills development.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, BCBAs, and other school staff to ensure consistency in behavioral interventions.

  • Assist with classroom management to create a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.

  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and new strategies in ABA therapy.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards regarding student information and behavior data.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff to ensure the needs of students are met.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or higher in Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred.

  • Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, BCBAs, students, and parents.

  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students’ growth and development.

  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

  • Basic knowledge of data collection and behavior tracking methods.

  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and individualized student needs.

  • Must pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by state regulations.


Additional Requirements:

  • Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts state regulations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.

  • Completion of any required professional development or certifications as mandated by the district.

  • Completion of any required training or certifications upon hire, including CPR, First Aid, or behavior management training.

  • Ability to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

Full-Time Exempt Salary Position in accordance with the established Instructional Assistant Salary Scale. AKFCS also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following:
