Overview:

Citizens offers a variety of residential supports based upon the level of support and supervision required by each person to include Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA’s) and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF’s).

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Draft behavioral treatment programs by conducting the Functional Behavior Assessments. Determine a course of action based on the information acquired, to provide staff with a consistent approach in utilizing proactive procedures to address behavioral needs. 
  1. Review cases on an ongoing basis to address needs and make adjustments in services as indicated by the individual’s progress or lack thereof.
  1. Provides off-site and/or satellite direct clinical interventions.
  1. Provide ongoing support to people that we support by fostering an environment in which active treatment is ongoing, assist people in becoming active participants in every aspect of their lives, and ensure that a high quality of life is maintained.
  1. Perform diagnostic evaluations, which may include assessment of intellectual functioning, adaptive behavior, emotional functioning, and mental status, including Functional Behavior Assessments.
  1. Provide staff training in behavior modification principles.
  1. Attend Psychiatric appointments. Maintain contact with relevant parties involved with the individual supported (i.e., clinical, management, direct care, Day Hab staff, outside specialists).  Provide information and support to families on an on-going basis.  May accompany individuals on relevant appointments/consultations.
  1. Participate in team meetings and case conferences.
  1. Maintain clinical documentation and complete periodic reviews.
  1. Participate in regular supervisory contact with the Senior Behavior Intervention Specialist/Director of Behavioral Health.
  1. Provide crisis intervention.
  1. Provide agency wide training at new hire trainings in Positive Behavior Supports and other areas determined by the Psychology and Training departments. Receive training for agency SCIP-R instructor and maintain certification on annual basis (maintaining certification as determined by agency policy, site specific requirements, and at the supervisor’s discretion).
  1. Report and document any events/activities that may hinder the health, safety and well- being of the person that resides there (i.e., allegations of abuse, injuries, broken equipment, etc.).
  2. Report to the Justice Center as a mandated reporter if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse of neglect. Additionally, must follow all agency incident policy and procedures.
  3. Adhere to Federal and New York State regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency and program training requirements.
  4. Arrive to work by the start of scheduled shift, adheres to agency policy and procedures in regard to call off, to ensure quality support is provided to people each day.
  5. Successfully complete and maintain annual training and any other training that is necessary for your position.
  6. Performs all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:

Must have Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology. Some experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
