ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with staffing schedules as needed.
- Participates in interview processes, hiring decisions, and new personnel orientation and that staff is trained in compliance with regulations
- Evaluates staff performance and compliance with CMOS; rewards desirable performance and delivers corrective action when necessary.
- Regularly holds staff meetings.
- participates in the Mercy Radiation Safety Committee.
- Serves as leadership resource to the radiology groups.
- Manages customer concerns and occurrences; implements service recovery efforts.
- Prepares pertinent monthly and annual statistical reports.
- Oversight and participation in Radiation Safety and QA/QC functions. Run reports for patient safety and partner safety.
- Maintains protocols for all departments and works to standardize scan parameters.
- Works closely with RSO and Medical Physicists system wide to ensure safety.
- Participates in the organization of Joint Commission Requirements and surveys.
- Participation in regulatory inspections and maintenance of essential certifications and accreditations.
- Continually reviews and revises pertinent patient flow functions.
- Ensure that equipment periodic maintenance and service is completed.
- Participates in budget preparation and is accountable for fiscal responsibility of the department. Maintains inventory control, reviews monthly budget reports. Ensures chargemaster and CPT codes are current. Charges are entered correctly and
- PACS QA issues that arise are resolved quickly.
- Staff productivity is met in accordance with Mercyhealth System measures.
- Performs complex CT exams such as interventional procedures, cardiac CT and biopsies.
- Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.
- Applies appropriate positioning techniques and aligns patient for optimal scanning parameters.
- Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
- Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
- Working knowledge of all equipment including scanners, post processing software, PACS, RIS, etc.
- Reviews patient schedules to ensure that that scheduling of exams is appropriate.
- Appointment backlogs should be addressed and a plan put in place to reduce the backlog /wait times.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited radiography program.
Minimum Five (5) years CT experience
Experience as a Clinical leader or Supervisor required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
ARRT (R) and (CT) registration required
IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business [periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully an individual should have the knowledge of Human resource systems, internet software, inventory software, order processing software, payroll systems time and attendance, spreadsheet and word processing.
