The Administrative Services Department is seeking a Payroll Specialist to perform payroll related work of considerable difficulty calling for individual judgment, initiative, and specialized knowledge.
Hiring Range: $28.04 - $29.69/hour dependent upon qualifications
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Position Duties
- Processes weekly payroll in Tyler Munis software for alternating groups of City of Green Bay employees.
- Assists with entering and auditing tax withholdings, direct deposits, health benefit adjustments, and various employee reimbursements.
- Assists with setting up and monitoring pay garnishments, union dues, and employee charitable donations.
- Enters information on newly hired, rehired, and terminated employees including seasonal and limited term employees.
- Audits new employee information in payroll module.
- Assists in unemployment and workers compensation reports, fringe benefit reports, quarterly wage reports, personnel action forms and other payroll and benefit related reports.
- Gathers information for the monthly Current Employment Statistics Survey for the U.S Department of Labor.
- Enters Personal Action Forms (PAFs) for pay adjustments including, step changes, job transfers, contract settlements, shift changes, and any other scenarios.
- Works in various timekeeping systems.
- Assists with the proration of accruals for newly hired, terminated, or retired employees.
- Assists in setting up new pay and deduction codes, work schedules, and positions classes.
- Assists with calculating compensatory time pay outs and updating accrual balances at year-end.
- Assists with filing and paying payroll taxes in accordance with state and federal law.
- Assists Payroll Manager with W-2 processing, mailing, and electronic filing.
- Update payroll processes and procedures as needed.
- Assists employees by providing payroll related information and responding to general payroll related questions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two-year degree in accounting or a related field required.
- Four years office experience with an emphasis in accounting, finance or bookkeeping with a minimum of two years experience in computerize payroll and timekeeping systems.
