 Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for independently managing and delivering multiple projects across the organization.   Projects will range in size from medium scale and complexity involving multiple departments to large scale enterprise-wide initiatives involving hundreds of employees and customers. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, requiring strong project management discipline, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to drive results without direct supervisory authority. The incumbent will also serve as a mentor and resource to junior project managers, contributing to the overall effectiveness and consistency of the PMO.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Defines project requirements, establishes milestones, and coordinates resources across departments.
  • Facilitates project team formation, kickoff meetings, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Monitors progress, resolves issues, and escalates risks as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Supports change adoption by coordinating training, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Serves as a strategic liaison between business units, IT, vendors and project sponsors(s).
  • Provides effective management of vendor(s) activities in support of a project, consistent with the project scope and contractual obligations between the vendor(s) and the Company.  Ensures that the Company and the vendor(s) have a clear understanding of the goals of a project and the roles, capabilities and constraints relative to all principal actors in support of the project.
  • Maintains accurate project documentation, including schedules, status reports, and risk logs.
  • Prepares and presents concise updates to stakeholders and leadership, highlighting key metrics and decisions.
  • Contributes to PMO reporting standards and templates to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Actively participates in standing or ad hoc committees supporting the development and implementation of key products or processes.  
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks; manages scope changes and dependencies.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and vendor obligations.
  • Promotes awareness of risk management practices and fraud prevention across project teams.
  • Provides guidance and informal coaching to junior project managers and project team members.
  • Shares best practices, tools, and lessons learned to strengthen PMO capabilities.
  • Provides consistent communication and direction to employees involved in or affected by a project, ensuring those involved maintain a thorough understanding of the strategies and goals for a project, as well as their individual role supporting that project.
  • Collaborates with Mid Penn University and the internal departments affected by a project to develop and help deliver the training needed by employees most affected by that project.
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides coaching so employees know how to successfully complete work assignments.
  • Organizes and holds meetings; keeps the team focused and on track, using standard project management tools and techniques.  Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations; prepares and communicates action plans; resolves problems and where possible, implements positive changes.
  • Consults with different department subject-matter experts to analyze current workflow processes that are costly in resources and/or time to develop and design efficiencies.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study preferred, or equivalent work experience and/or training.
  • PMP, Prosci, or similar certification preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of project management experience, ideally in banking, financial services, or regulated industries.
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must live and be able to work within the Mid Penn Bank footprint (PA or NJ).

 Pay Transparency

We set standard salary ranges for our roles based on the position, function, and responsibilities, as benchmarked against similarly sized companies in our industry. Specific compensation offered will be determined based on a combination of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials. The salary range may vary based on geographic location.

The annual salary for this position is $79,876 - $120,000.
