Role Specific Orientation
- Maintains all educational standards and requirements that support staff development and compliance consistent with current federal, state regulations and Joint Commission Standards.
- Ensures all health service staff are trained on the electronic medical record (EMR) system, which includes monitoring the EMR for complete, accurate and compliant documentation
- Plans and coordinates classroom and neighborhood orientation which includes reserving space, preparing educational materials and identifying and coordinating resources including preceptors with the DON and Shift Nursing Supervisors.
- Coordinates and participates in new Health Service employee orientation sessions.
- Implements a surveillance system for detecting and monitoring facility acquired and community infections. Ensures compliance to regulatory requirements.
- Provides physicians and staff with updates of infection control policy changes.
- Investigates outbreaks or clusters of infections. Monitors, analyzes, and interprets bacteriology reports and infection statistics, recommends appropriate control measures to prevent dissemination of resistant microorganisms and pathogens.
- Completes PI infection report monthly and reports at monthly PI meeting
- Completes PASAR submission for all infections meeting criteria for reporting
- Consults with physicians, managers, and staff for the management of infectious and/or immuno-suppressed patients.
Education and Experience
Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing and current licensure by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Registered Professional Nurse. Must maintain an active CPR Certification. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Long Term Care Setting as an Educator or Nurse Manager. Excellent computer skills and strong clinical assessment and leadership skills are required. Effective organizational, problem solving, writing and interpersonal skills required. Must be detail-oriented.
