Seeking a Fellow Engineer/ Lead Test Engineer to support our federal government client in Aiken, SC. Application Deadline: Monday, 10/06/2025 at 12:00 noon EDT.
Requirements:
The Contractor will be responsible for the following:
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Design Authority Manager. The anticipated work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After the award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
Qualifications:
Required
- Must have technical knowledge of Commissioning/Startup Testing, including experience working in the following technical areas/labor categories:
- Conduct of Startup Testing
- Design reviews
- Procedure development
- Test Execution
- Demonstrated previous experience with the use and implementation of Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives and standards, or an equivalent Commissioning/Startup program.
- Demonstrated previous experience in developing, reviewing, approval and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures.
- Demonstrated personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work.
- Demonstrated a minimum of 1 year or more of recent testing experience through support of the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
- Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in field.
- Must be able to provide Professional References
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOE “Q” security clearance
Physical Requirements
- Able to easily navigate on foot task of an operating construction site daily to include:
- Walking, climbing, stooping, standing, for up to twelve (12) hours a day.
- Climbing stairs and scaffolding, walking through uneven and rough terrain, and entering confined spaces (as necessary).
- Pushing/pulling and lifting, up to 50 lbs.
- Performing the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA,
- FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Education
- A Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR
- A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR
- A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
Preferred
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (“L” or “Q”) within the past two years
