Job Summary

The State Preschool Lead Teacher serves as an administrative liaison between management personnel and instructional staff. The Lead Teacher is under the direct supervision of a program supervisor. However, the program supervisor is responsible for guiding and directing routine activities delegated to the Lead Teacher. While some Lead Teacher duties and responsibilities may be carried out during the workday, additional hours are expected.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Serves as liaison between site staff and state preschool management staff; • Participates in quarterly meetings with program supervisor; • Collaborates on the revision on forms related to policies and procedures; • Disseminates information such as policies and procedures, facilities and maintenance needs, safety and emergency procedures, health and medical issues and program guidelines; • Demonstrates knowledge of state preschool regulations, including community care licensing and the California Department of Education, Early Education Division’s guidelines; • Conducts site visits coordinated with the program supervisor (non-evaluative); • Participates in committees designated by the program supervisor; • Assists in conducting student observations related to behavioral concerns and offers PBIS strategies of support; • Assists with student enrollment and attendance as needed for support; • Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Must be a current SBCSS contract State Preschool Teacher; • Completed two years of successful teaching experience in the SBCSS State Preschool program; Note: Contract teachers who complete their second year with SBCSS by June 30, 2025, may apply. • Possess a valid California-issued Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or greater. The supplemental question is a statement of why you are interested in the responsibility of a State Preschool Lead Teacher.
