- Provide leadership for the PM team and support their role as an effective challenge in loan approval and grading.
- Function as a subject matter expert and resource for the PM team, the RM team and Credit Officer, offering Credit Committee support on a regular basis.
- Effectively use negotiation skills with a strong focus on the sales process, operating as a bridge between Sales and Credit.
- Perform research to maintain current knowledge of industry trends and changes communicating information to PM and RM teams as appropriate; ensure the PM team remains compliant with both FirstBank and industry standards.
- Develop and mentor the PM and RM teams to build credit expertise, sales knowledge and portfolio management skills.
- Serve as an integral member of the Credit Quality Control Review team. As such the GPM will review source documents that will include the date of source documentation used, DSCR, GDSCR, LTV, and sources of repayment. The review will determine whether the appropriate level of credit approval authority was used, if Credit Policy exceptions were properly identified and mitigated, and if the appropriate ancillary forms (risk rating worksheet, etc.) were included with the credit approval document.
- Continuously advance knowledge in an effort to aid in the evolution of FirstBank policies and best practices.
- Set the standard of consistent, distinctive service to all clients when delivering the FirstBank service experience.
- Practice safe and sound bank procedures, including adherence to applicable laws and regulations, internal controls, operational procedures, risk management policies, and security protocols
- Regular and reliable attendance.

- Manage the team by hiring, coaching, training, and providing direction to team members through feedback to support personal development and ongoing improvement.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar field preferred
- Experience in banking portfolio management required; possess extensive knowledge of various loan structures and have the ability to apply this knowledge in the formulation of sound credit recommendations
- 3+ years of management or similar leadership experience
- Strong verbal and written communications; one-on-one and in team environments
- Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and make recommendations to address and mitigate perceived risks
- Ability to allocate time effectively and independently to prioritize timelines
- Strong personal organizational and time management skills
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
