Unique Opportunity for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist – Joint Appointment with Connecticut Children’s & Boston Children’s Hospital
Responsibilities
We are seeking a board-eligible/certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist with a passion for pediatric eye care to join our collaborative and dynamic teams. This position offers a unique chance to work across two mission-driven children’s hospital vision care teams — Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, CT (University of Connecticut medical school teaching affiliate), and Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA (Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate).
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to two collaborative pediatric ophthalmology programs committed to quality patient care, research, and education. You will directly contribute to a diverse clinical experience and rich pathology in caring for a broad spectrum of conditions, including comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. You will be working alongside world-class pediatric subspecialists and interdisciplinary care teams. In addition, you will participate in the teaching of trainees and have an opportunity to participate in clinical research projects. This is a unique partnership that benefits children and families in two key markets of New England.
The position includes split clinical time between Connecticut Children’s and Boston Children’s Ophthalmology departments, with access to state-of-the-art clinics and surgical facilities at both institutions. You will be supported by experienced administrative and clinical staff and offered a competitive compensation and benefits package. The selected candidate will be recommended for appointment as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Qualified candidates will be MDs who have completed an accredited Ophthalmology residency and have fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus. Board eligibility/certification in Ophthalmology is required, along with eligibility for medical licensure in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Living in the region between the Hartford/Boston/Worcester region offers significant advantages and the best that all these have to offer. You will enjoy the cultural, educational, and lifestyle benefits of two dynamic cities, with easy access to New England’s historic sites, beautiful coastline, mountains, and vibrant urban centers.
