This recruitment is being conducted to fill a temporary assignment and not being conducted to establish an eligibility list from which regular appointments will be made, as such this recruitment may close at any time. Employees hired in this capacity are considered at will and do not accrue property interest in the assignment and are not eligible for benefits.
There is currently one temporary vacancy located at Ventura College.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform specialized clerical duties in support of college services for students with disabilities.
WHERE YOU’LL WORK
Established in 1925, Ventura College was one of the first community colleges in California and currently has an enrollment of 14,500 students. Located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, the 112-acre campus is set in the rolling hills of Ventura – so close to the ocean that there is a clear view of the Channel Islands from several spots on campus.

Position Duties
Serve as initial source of information and assistance to persons contacting the Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSPS) department; orient students to the program and its resources and assist with the intake process. E
Assist students with disabilities with the registration process; instruct students in correct procedures for completion and submission of forms and applications; explain requirements and restrictions; review submitted forms and applications for completeness. E
Coordinate, schedule, and administer approved testing accommodations related to classroom, placement, and proctored tests for students with disabilities; confer with faculty to clarify testing administration criteria. E
Log students in and out of the testing area; document attendance; monitor and record student progress; prepare summary reports. E
Act as a liaison with, and respond to requests for information from, District staff, program staff, instructors, and representatives of the State Department of Rehabilitation. E
Maintain department calendar of activities, meetings, and various events; schedule student appointments; reserve facilities for specific uses. E
Perform clerical and administrative duties in support of department operations; monitor inventories of supplies and materials; prepare and process requisitions. E
Work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and ethnic communities. E
Demonstrate cultural humility, sensitivity, and equity-mindedness in working with individuals from diverse communities; model inclusive behaviors; and achieve equity in assignment-related outcomes.E
Assist in the updating of information for statewide reports, as assigned.
Assist in training and providing work direction and guidance to student workers, as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency AND three years of clerical experience that involved frequent contact with people with disabilities.
OR
An associate degree from a recognized college or university AND two years of clerical experience that involved frequent contact with people with disabilities.
OR
A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university AND one year of clerical experience that involved frequent contact with people with disabilities.
