Summary of Position Mission

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineering Manager to build and lead our engineering team in achieving operational excellence. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will oversee the engineering team responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining processes for manufacturing plant and firearms production. This role will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and lead cross-functional teams to meet production goals while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

 Responsibilities

  • Process Development & Optimization:
    • Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes for firearms components and assemblies.
    • Optimize production workflows, machine utilization, to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product quality / overall cost reduction.
    • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
    • Optimize machine utilization and production capacity planning.
    • Manage tooling assets including the development and deployment of a PMP (Preventative Maintenance Plan).
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and build a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the engineering team.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, including new product introductions (NPI) and process upgrades.
    • Coordinate with R&D, quality assurance, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes.
    • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  1. Provide technical reports to in-house customers from upper management to technicians.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) requirements.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Equipment & Technology:
    • Lead capital equipment and tooling acquisitions, analysis and strategies.
    • Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, robotic systems, and inspection tools.
    • Stay current with industry advancements and recommend new technologies to enhance production capabilities.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Collaborate with the quality team to develop and maintain rigorous quality control standards.
    • Analyze production data to identify trends, resolve issues, and prevent defects.
  • General:
    • Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire.
    • Actively participate and support the 5S process within the work area on a daily basis
    • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
    • Support and adhere to all ISO standards applicable to the Company.
    • Wears all necessary Personal Protective Equipment directed by the Company at all times. 
    • Demonstrates sound working knowledge of firearms safety. 
    • Maintains and keeps workstation and department area clean. 
      • Immediately acts on any maintenance and/or safety issues presented. 
    • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward co-workers, other department and the Company. 
    • Maintains respect, courtesy and professionalism toward all co-workers and the Company.
    • Communicates clearly and effectively with co-workers and management.
    • Other duties assigned as required.

Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
    • Experience in the firearms industry or a related precision manufacturing field (e.g., aerospace, automotive) is highly preferred.
    • Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and managing complex projects.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, and finishing.
    • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
    • Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with ATF regulations and firearms manufacturing standards is a plus.
