Base Salary Range: $83,000 -$86,000 - plus benefits

FTE: Full-Time -Exempt

General Summary: Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the strategic and tactical management of NextGen EHR (current version 6 with a planned move to version 8 in early 2026) and related clinical information systems. Will oversee EHR lifecycle management, facilitate the creation and maintenance of HL7 interfaces, and drive optimization of healthcare provider workflows. This role requires close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and operational staff through steering committees to ensure systems and workflows align with organizational needs and regulatory standards. You will also oversee Microsoft 365 platform integration for collaboration, documentation, and data governance. The ideal candidate will have to perform some of the following essentials:


  • Lead system administration and maintenance for NextGen EHR environment
  • Lead NextGen EHR upgrades, including planned migration from on-premises version 6 to cloud-hosted version 8 in early 2026
  • Design, build, and maintain HL7 interfaces to connect EHR with labs, imaging systems, HIEs, billing platforms, and other third-party applications
  • Partner with clinical leadership to develop and optimize provider, nursing, and billing workflows within NextGen to enhance care delivery and efficiency
  • Oversee testing, configuration, and deployment of KBM upgrades, hot fixes, and template enhancements
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of EHR forms, letters, documents, and templates used in patient care and reporting
  • Develop and maintain standards for structured data exchange using HL7, CCD, FHIR, and related interoperability technologies
  • Create and maintain processes for integrating external clinical data into NextGen workflows and exporting organizational data for HIE and BAA partners
  • Build queries, dashboards, and automated reports to support quality improvement, compliance, and executive decision-making
  • Define and document end-to-end data flows between internal systems and external partners, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance
  • Implement data management best practices to support population health initiatives and payer reporting requirements
  • Lead steering committees with providers, nurses, and staff to align EHR functionality with organizational strategy and clinical needs
  • Serve as the primary liaison between executive leadership, IT, and clinical teams for EHR strategy and implementation planning
  • Supervise staff in the Informatics Department, developing their technical and professional competencies
  • Oversee vendor-managed projects, ensuring deliverables are on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational workflows
  • Conduct user training sessions and develop supporting documentation to ensure adoption of EHR features and optimization of workflows
  • Expert-level administration of NextGen EHR, including KBM template design and customization
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining HL7 and FHIR interfaces for interoperability
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power BI, and Power Platform) to improve care team collaboration, reporting, and governance
  • Ability to map, visualize, and optimize provider and staff workflows tied to EHR processes
  • Strong database development, SQL query building, and data visualization skills
  • Knowledge of clinical informatics standards and healthcare data governance best practice.
  • Strong leadership skills in managing cross-functional steering teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for staff training, organizational presentations, and executive reporting
  • Experience supervising IT or informatics staff and managing vendor relationships

Educations: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (or demonstrated equivalent work experience)
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare informatics and EHR systems

Qualifications Licensure and Certifications:.

  • Preferred: NextGen Certified Professional
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare IT or EHR administration
  • Prior experience leading EHR upgrade cycles, workflow development, and data integration projects
