Join our Parks & Recreation team as a morning Indoor Cycling Instructor, and bring your energy to our fitness schedule! We’re looking for a certified fitness instructor to lead our morning cycle classes, which run two to three mornings a week from 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. This role offers a flexible seasonal schedule, requiring 2-3 mornings in Fall/Winter, and the possibility of transitioning to one morning class per week in Spring/Summer. Position Duties

What You’ll Do in This Role: 

  • Report to work at assigned time. 
  • Lead safe and effective Indoor Cycling classes in designated locations. 
  • Clean and organize the cycle studio and surrounding aerobics area. 
  • Inspect the cycle studio, bikes, and equipment daily. 
  • Set-up all required and necessary equipment (including audio/visual components and instructor bike settings) in order to get the ride started on time. 
  • Ensure a safe playing/program area by inspecting the facility and all cycling equipment prior to class. 
  • Fill out and submit as scheduled an accurate timecard for hours worked.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Fitness Instructor (Starting pay: $20.50/hour) 

  • Group Fitness Certification. 
  • Current CPR/AED certification. 
  • Prior experience teaching indoor cycling or similar fitness classes preferred. Ideally, you have personal experience training for local long-distance cycling events, such as the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.
Non-Certified Fitness Instructor (Starting Pay: $15.50/hour) 
  • Demonstrated qualifying experience teaching fitness or performance classes, or professional experience in a related field. 
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. 
  • Prior experience teaching indoor cycling or similar fitness classes preferred. Ideally, you have personal experience training for local long-distance cycling events, such as the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic.
The starting pay for a Certified Instructor is $20.50 an hour, with opportunities for growth up to $28.00 per hour based on long-term growth and performance within the role. The starting pay for Non-Certified Instructor with relevant qualifying experience is $15.50 an hour, with opportunities for growth up to $21.46 per hour. 

You Will Succeed in This Role If You: 
  • Have the knowledge and ability to instruct proper form, technique, and safety protocols specifically for an Indoor Cycling class. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely (both orally and in writing) to effectively cue riders, manage the class experience, and interact with facility staff. 
  • Maintain the physical and mental capacity to energetically perform assigned duties and interact positively with all participants at the early-morning hour. 
  • Are proactive in inspecting and cleaning the cycle studio, equipment, and sound system to ensure a safe, organized, and clean environment before and after your ride.
