About the Role
Pali Wine Co. is hiring a Tasting Room Manager to lead our Funk Zone location in Santa Barbara. The Manager is accountable for tasting room sales and wine club growth, service standards, and team leadership. This is a hands-on role: you will run your own section, coach staff in real time, and meet both personal and team wine club sign-up quotas.
Key Responsibilities
Wine Club and Sales
- Achieve personal wine club sign-up quotas and ensure the tasting room meets overall sales and membership targets.
- Actively promote memberships and coach staff to do the same.
- Track weekly sales and sign-up performance and adjust strategies to stay on pace.
Guest Experience and Service
- Lead by example on the floor through greeting, pouring, and educating guests.
- Ensure wines are served correctly: fresh, at the right temperature, and poured with consistency.
- Hold staff accountable to attentive and professional service standards.
- Listen in on interactions and provide immediate coaching to strengthen hospitality and wine education.
- Maintain a tasting room that is clean, polished, and welcoming.
Wine Knowledge and Training
- Possess a deep understanding of Santa Barbara County wines, vineyards, and winemaking.
- Share authentic opinions and enthusiasm for wine with guests.
- Build a knowledgeable staff through ongoing training so every team member can confidently present and sell wine.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and develop a motivated team committed to service and sales goals.
- Create efficient weekly schedules and monitor labor against budget.
- Lead regular meetings to communicate goals, service standards, and company updates.
- Foster a professional, wine-driven culture where staff are proud to represent Pali.
Events and Programming
- Build and manage a calendar of events, including live music, tastings, and community partnerships.
- Plan and execute events that increase guest traffic and wine club growth.
- Collaborate with marketing to promote events and highlight the tasting room as an active destination.
Operations and Administration
- Manage inventory and ordering with accuracy and accountability.
- Ensure all sales and discounts are entered correctly in the POS, and that reporting is accurate and on time.
- Audit pour sizes, discounts, and transactions to protect consistency and profitability.
- Handle deposits and financial reporting with precision.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and state regulations.
Compensation and Details
- Full-time, salaried position
- $72,000 annually plus performance-based bonus
- Location: On-site in Santa Barbara, CA

Pali Wine Co. produced its first vintage in 2005 with the belief that great wine comes from great farming and good people. Since then, we have been committed to wines of place, shaped by our vineyards and the communities we share them with. We planted 50 acres in the Sta. Requirements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of tasting room or hospitality management experience.
- Proven leadership and sales ability with success in hitting quotas.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about wine, especially Santa Barbara County.
- Strong communication and coaching skills.
- Proficiency with POS and scheduling systems (Shopify, Square, 7 Shifts, or similar).
- Must be 21 or older, able to work evenings and weekends, and able to lift 40 lbs.
