REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's degree; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid South Carolina educational certification preferred (preferably in teaching, school counseling, school psychology, school social work or leadership)
Must have current government issued identification
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
8 Hours/190 Days

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision works to ensure the smooth transition of students who are at risk of not graduating within four years. Coordinates a comprehensive prevention/intervention program for students at-risk of grade retention and/or dropping out. Provides students identified as at-risk with additional support necessary to achieve academic success. Works to ensure that all identified students receive the resources/services that they need to be guided toward the path of graduation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist the School guidance department
· Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Sumter County School District towards increased outcomes for students.
· Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
· Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
· Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
· Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
· Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
· Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
· Works to ensure the smooth transition of at-risk students, providing strategies to ensure successful graduation.
· Connects identified students to intervention strategies to prevent grade retention and failure on state-mandated assessments; ensures a solid academic foundation that promotes the successful transition out of high school.
· Utilizes the district profile of characteristics of potential dropouts.
· Develops and implements individual, small group and whole school intervention and prevention strategies to increase the likelihood that students will stay in school and graduate.
· Attends district high school at-risk/intervention committee meetings.
· Participates in school-based at risk team meetings.
· Collaborates with administrators, teachers, counselors, and/or community resources to provide needed interventions.
· Connects individual students and their parents/guardians with community organizations and programs.
· Develops or works with local mentoring programs, business and/or community services to connect individual students with mentors.
· Provides support and outreach to parents/guardians of students identified as being at risk of not graduating.
· Tracks progress of individual students as they progress toward graduation.
· Completes program evaluations as requested by the district.
· Effectively uses personal technology devices and software applications for the management of pertinent information and communication.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
No budgetary or supervisory responsibility.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Sumter School District Board policies. Must be able to access reliable transportation.
