JOB FUNCTIONS
· Assists with the oversight of operations and personnel in the surgical pathology and autopsy laboratories.
· Directs workflow issues relative to the collection of patient tissue.
· Directs autopsy technical personnel and functions as prosecutor for postmortem examinations.
· Performs gross description and dissection of tissue removal at surgery.
· Reviews and summarizes relevant patient information and verifies proper documentation for tissue use in
· Research or for postmortem examinations.
· Maintains patient and procedure data relative to the workload and quality assurance of section operations.
· Coordinates training of Surgical Pathology fellows, residents and students relative to tissue grossing techniques.
· Collaborates with others to develop patient data and report templates.
· Ensures compliance with accrediting agencies for pathology laboratory activities, including documentation of
· Competency testing, documentation of quality improvement activities and development of procedure manuals.
· Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from accredited Pathologist Assistant Program or
Bachelor's Degree in Biological sciences or allied health sciences.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: No experience required if graduated from an accredited Pathologist Assistant Program. or
- Required: 3 years Experience performing gross examination and evaluation of human surgical and/or autopsy specimens with a Bachelor's degree.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: PA(ASCP) - Pathologists' Assistant American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). within 180 Days
