Position Title: Major Gifts Officer
Employment Status: Full-time - Exempt
Number of hours per week: 40 hours

Now, we’re looking for a Major Gifts Officer who can help us deepen and expand this impact.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and steward a portfolio of generous and prospective donors - building genuine, lasting relationships.
- Translate SMAA’s vision and programs into powerful giving opportunities that spark donor engagement.
- Personally solicit gifts and design customized strategies to grow donor support over time.
- Partner with the Advancement Team to create inspiring donor experiences and communications.
- Spend your time where it matters most: out in the community, connecting with donors and champions of SMAA’s mission.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Knowledge Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:
- A bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of success in major gifts, sales, business development, or other relationship-driven roles.
- A proven ability to create strategies that lead to real results.
- Excellent communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and the confidence to build rapport with people of all backgrounds.
- A self-starter mentality - you thrive in an independent, goal-driven environment while also valuing teamwork.
