The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for an Accountant II to join our team. The Accountant II will perform and complete assigned projects involving complex auditing and internal control.

 

Your Role in Action:

  • Implements and monitors quarterly, monthly and weekly plans of accounting responsibilities.
  • Monitors payment of invoices, general ledger and vendor files.
  • Audits and corrects information within the system.
  • Prepares journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations and analyzes general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews and approves reconciliations of new Purchase Dbase file to general ledger.
  • Reviews and approves reconciliations of physical inventory against Dbase Master file.
  • Assists Accounting Managers in preparing and compiling financial and annual reports.
  • Meets all required education and training in accordance with all applicable standards (i.e. TXMHMR, The Harris Center (THC), State licensing boards, programs, etc.).
  • Complies with all safety and health requirements and regulations in accordance with all applicable standards (i.e. TXMHMR, THC, State licensing boards, programs, etc.)
  • Performs duties in a manner consistent with the Agency's commitment & ensures that consumers and employees multicultural differences are respected.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What qualifications you will need:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Accounting preferred.

Experience

  • Three to five (3-5) years accounting, record keeping experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend written material and demonstrate basic literacy.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and demonstrate basic literacy.
  • Ability to converse with others.
  • Ability to perform and comprehend mathematical functions and demonstrate basic literacy.
  • Ability to observe the environment using the various physical senses.
  • Ability to lift and carry, i.e. equipment, boxed supplies, etc.
  • Ability to perform flexible motions to complete repetitive tasks.
  • Staff under administrative purview are perceived via consumer satisfaction reports as being culturally sensitive and professionally appropriate.
