Position Title: Personalized Learning Community Teacher (English)

                       

Position Location: Green Avenue Administration Building

 

Position Type: WPEA – 10 month

 

Supervisor: Chief of Academics

                                                           

Position Summary:  The ideal candidate will support the District’s mission and vision, and have the primary responsibility to plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that meet state-mandated standards via an online synchronous/asynchronous environment. Each teacher will also serve as an Academic Advisor for an assigned caseload of students, communicate regularly and effectively with students/parents.

 

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties

  1. Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lessons in the assigned content area(s) through the online management learning system; differentiate instruction for all students; implement IEP accommodations and modifications.
  2. Maintain all assigned courses to high standards, adjust lessons and assessments as necessary.
  3. Gather resources that assist in addressing/incorporating state standards into lessons, instructional materials, and assessments.
  4. Schedule and maintain regular virtual office hours.
  5. Regularly monitor and maintain student attendance expectations.
  6. Monitor and analyze assessment data to support informed instructional decision-making (including but not limited to PVAAS, Keystone, PSSA, etc.)
  7. Provide timely feedback to students in order to support students to reach content mastery goals/targets.
  8. Serve as Academic Advisor to an assigned caseload of students, following established procedures.
  9. Participate in proctoring state-mandated testing, school field trips, community outreach, and marketing events, including overnight stays.
  10. Collaborate effectively with department and cohort peers to ensure academic goals are appropriate and instructional strategies are effective to reach identified student outcomes.
  11. Maintain accurate records and information in SIS, following established procedures.

Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.

Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the District.

Ability to understand and hold self and others accountable for promoting and attaining the goals as outlined in Focus Forward & Beyond.

Ability to recognize that each person is a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage.

Knowledge of PA Core Standards and Eligible Content.

Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) including, but not limited to, Schoology and Canvas

Knowledge of Instructional Planning Guides as it relates to the instructional block

Knowledge of Digital Curriculum components including but not limited to, My Perspectives

Courageously lead conversations focused on equity, closing opportunity gaps, and equal access to technology-infused lessons of rigor.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff and administrators, students, parents or guardians, outside agencies, and the public, in a multi-ethnic, multicultural, multilingual environment.

Receive and implement feedback to improve practice and systems.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from accredited University or College

Pennsylvania Teaching Certification - English 7-12

Prior 7-12 teaching experience delivering core content curriculum desirable

Eligible for a Pennsylvania driver's license at time of hire

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s in Education or related field of study

2+ years experience teaching in virtual/cyber education environments

Google Educator Level 1 or Level 2 certification

Special Education certification

Online Teaching Certification or Endorsement

  • Copy of Act 33(PA Child Abuse History)
  • Copy of Act 34(PA Criminal Background Check)
  • Copy of Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting Background Check)
  • Copies of Act 168 (Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release) forms from prior employers

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis

Indoor office environment is subject to frequent interruptions

Pushing, moving and lifting objects with a strength factor of light work

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment

Clarity of vision at varying distances

Verbal, auditory and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner

Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies

Level of Compensation: $51,619 - $102,820
