Immel Construction is seeking an experienced Field Safety Manager to foster a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations across our construction job sites. This role collaborates with project managers, superintendents, craftworkers, and subcontractors and proactively identifies and mitigates hazards and risks.
This position requires frequent travel to active job sites to conduct safety audits, train, and provide hands-on support for field safety initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Implement, monitor, and enforce safety programs, policies, and procedures for assigned construction projects.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and verify corrective actions are completed.
- Provide safety orientation and training for new employees, craftworkers, and contractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to construction safety.
- Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and develop control measures to mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections and audits, as required.
- Provide guidance and support to Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen on safety-related issues.
- Interface with clients and client representatives to demonstrate safety compliance, as needed.
- Support and/or lead company-wide safety initiatives as assigned by the Director of Risk Management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, occupational health and safety, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
- OSHA 30 Certification is required.
- 3+ years of safety management experience in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
- Proficiency using safety management software and tools.
- Ability to and willingness to travel to construction job sites.
