Job Summary

The Medical Simulation Technician’s primary role is the implementation and delivery of healthcare simulation activities utilizing both advanced robotic simulators and highly trained standardized patient actors through the application of simulation technologies such as computers, audiovisual equipment, or other networking technologies. They will proactively set up, help facilitate, and break down educational settings for scenarios involving anatomy and physiology, adult health, maternal and newborn care, pediatrics, mental health, mental health, or interprofessional education learning simulations and experiential activities in support of CHHS faculty or external partners. The Medical Simulation Technician is expected to be technologically fluent in the set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of the Sim Center’s advanced robotic manikins, audiovisual and XR technologies (e.g., Anatomage Tables), and medical equipment and devices used in simulations. In collaboration with faculty, sim staff, and standardized patients (SPs), the technician ensures simulations run smoothly and meet learning objectives.

Authority and Accountability

The Medical Simulation Technician will report directly to the SP Program Coordinator, who oversees the Standardized Patient program and the Virtual Anatomy Lab. This is a part-time, intermittent position, compensated through the Sim Center’s state operational or entrepreneurial accounts.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

An associate’s degree in the field of health sciences, engineering, or information technology. Work experience in a healthcare, technology, or educational support setting. Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Is expected to be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic work environment and work well under pressure with superior attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and as part of an interdependent team. Must have basic familiarity with computers and audiovisual equipment; willing to learn simulation software and technical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in the field of health sciences, engineering, information technology, or a related field. Experience supporting simulation activities or working with standardized patient actors in a healthcare training environment. Hold a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist® (CHSOS®) certification. Familiarity with inventory management. Experience teaching, training or supporting pre-professional or professional learners. Theatre, performance, or production experience, especially related to live or educational settings.

Additional Job Information:

The position is a part-time, non-exempt Contingent I role.
