Hybrid: 2 days per week in-office

In 2002, we became the first insurance comparison site. Our purpose? To make the process of sorting your insurance, utilities or personal finances as easy as possible.
We’re part of RVU. A group of online brands that include Uswitch, Tempcover and money.co.uk. As a group, we use our shared knowledge to empower people, and help them make decisions confidently across a range of household services.

Confused.com is at the cutting edge of the FinTech industry, so we’re always looking for extraordinary talent. If you love what you do, get in touch today!

We’re looking for an experienced and creative Staff Product Designer to help shape the future of digital insurance experiences at Confused.com

As part of our cross-functional product design team, you’ll lead design initiatives from discovery through to delivery, collaborating closely with researchers, developers, product managers, content designers, marketers, and analysts. This role blends hands-on design with strategic thinking — helping us create seamless, insight-led journeys that deliver measurable value to customers and the business.

You’ll play a key part in growing our design culture, mentoring junior designers, running collaborative workshops, and embedding human-centred design across product and marketing initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead design work across product and communication experiences, from user flow mapping and wireframing through to final interface design and testing.
  • Champion a user-centred, evidence-led design approach, working with researchers and analysts to uncover insights and validate ideas through testing.
  • Collaborate across disciplines, including engineering, data, brand, content, and marketing teams, to ensure designs are achievable, consistent, and high-performing.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our design system, maintaining accessible, scalable patterns that align product and marketing design.
  • Run and facilitate design sprints and workshops, helping teams align on problems and rapidly test solutions.
  • Mentor junior designers, sharing methods, frameworks, and feedback to improve team capability and confidence.
  • Balance business and user goals, prioritising effectively and clearly communicating rationale to stakeholders.
  • Advocate for content design and accessibility best practices, ensuring every journey is inclusive and easy to use.
  • Identify opportunities and initiate design projects, framing problems, aligning stakeholders, and shaping briefs when they don’t yet exist.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience designing user-centred digital products, ideally within complex or regulated domains (e.g. finance, insurance, health).
  • Excellent UX and UI skills, with a strong grasp of design systems, accessibility, and interaction design principles.
  • Confidence using Figma for everything from component design to full interactive prototypes.
  • Experience running and contributing to user research, including surveys, usability testing, and analytics review.
  • Comfortable mapping customer journeys across full product and marketing funnels.
  • Experience with form design, conversion flows, and behavioural insight techniques is a bonus.
  • Able to confidently lead design critiques, stakeholder reviews, and cross-functional workshops.
  • Empathy, curiosity, and strong communication skills — with the ability to articulate decisions clearly to peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable initiating projects and influencing roadmaps by spotting design-led opportunities for improvement.
Our commitment to you:
At RVU, we are dedicated to developing valuable, inclusive, and user-friendly products and services that deliver positive outcomes for all of our customers. To achieve this it’s essential that our teams reflect the diverse range of people in our community. We believe in being the change we wish to see in the world, by embracing our differences and holding ourselves accountable to being open and inclusive teammates and wider community members.

  • 10% discretionary yearly bonus and yearly pay reviews (based on RVU and personal performance)

  • Employer matching pension contributions up to 7.5%
  • A one-off £300  “Work from Home” budget to help contribute towards a great work environment at home
