The Position

The Systems Administrator successfully manages the College’s systems infrastructure; ensuring the College’s systems are world class, up-to-date, reliable, secure and provide the environment needed by the clients for innovation and cutting-edge technology. Works effectively with the IT staff to ensure that the division is prioritizing upgrades and changes in line with the strategic goals of the College and needs of our clients. Responsible for Data Center performance and recovery, capacity planning to ensure scalability, and equipment lifecycle management. Establishes and supports new systems applications that enhance administrative and educational technology and the residential experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the College’s systems infrastructure is world class, up-to-date, reliable, secure, and provide the environment needed by the clients for productivity, innovation and cutting edge technology.
  • Maintains and monitors the College’s systems and insure high availability of critical systems; provides back-up systems management for the other staff as needed.
  • Supports, maintains, upgrades, and secures the College’s enterprise system with high availability.
  • Establishes and supports new system applications that enhance educational technology and the residential experience.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of all system, security and technical specification for assigned servers and systems.
  • Works effectively with the IT staff to ensure that the division is prioritizing upgrades and changes in line with the strategic goals of the College and needs of our clients.
  • Effective communication with managers, coworkers and clients to solve problems creatively and keep up-to-date with new technology
  • Provide excellent client service and consulting
  • Know and follow data information security and other college policies
  • Perform other related duties in support of the Information Technology office.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3 Years Minimum of IT technical troubleshooting required
  • 3 Years Minimum of managing application systems required
  • 1 Year Minimum of server administration required
  • 1 Year Minimum of server virtualization required
  • 1 Year Minimum Linux server administration required
  • Higher Education Experience preferred
  • SAN management experience preferred
  • Microsoft Certification(s) preferred
  • VMware Certification(s) preferred
  • SQL Server Experience preferred
  • Regular attendance
