The current vacancy is in CIP Development and Administration. However, the eligible list established by this recruitment is valid for one year and may be used to fill future Civil Engineer vacancies within the department.
Future general salary increases include:

Position Duties
Education & Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the necessary qualifications is as follows:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
AND
Three years of engineering experience involving the design, construction, inspection, and surveying of public works projects.
Special Requirements Include:
Licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs.
The City of Fullerton’s Conflict of Interest Code requires that the Civil Engineer file financial disclosure statements in accordance with state and local laws.

Assessment Process:

Applicants must be specific and complete in describing their qualifications for the position within their application. Based on the information provided in the application and other required materials, the most qualified candidates will be invited to take part in the examination process, which may include a written exam, performance test, oral interview, and/or other assessment methods.
The City reserves the right to revise any portion of the examination process. Candidates will be notified of any changes before a related examination step.
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment process for this recruitment will be placed on an eligible list for this classification, which will remain in effect for at least one year or until an insufficient number of candidates remain on the list.
Current City of Fullerton employees may be given preference during the testing and/or selection process.
Appointment:
Employment offers are conditional upon the successful completion of a background check. The background check will include fingerprinting, verified by the State of California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Certain positions may require a more extensive background check and/or a medical examination conducted by the City’s designated physician at the City’s expense. Medical examinations assess an individual’s ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Additionally, all new hires and employees appointed to safety-sensitive classifications must undergo a drug screening.
An appointee will serve a 12-month probationary period. Regular City employees promoted to this position will serve a 6-month probationary period.
