About the role

With major projects shaping the state’s energy future, we’re looking for a skilled engagement leader to guide our communications and build strong connections with communities, landholders, and stakeholders during some of the state’s most significant infrastructure projects.
As the Leader Major Projects Engagement, you’ll:
- Lead innovative strategies that build trust with communities, landholders and partners.
- Drive the planning and delivery of complex engagement programs, ensuring land access and acquisition requirements are met, and stakeholders have a genuine opportunity to help shape project outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice during project ramp-up and ensure alignment with TasNetworks’ engagement approach.
- Manage key contracts, budgets and consultancies, and report on risks, progress and opportunities.
- Build strategic partnerships, lead community investment activities, and represent TasNetworks with councils, government and the community.
About you
You are a skilled communicator and engagement professional who thrives on building trust, navigating complexity, and leading with empathy.
You bring:
- Proven experience leading community engagement, landholder relations, stakeholder or economic development strategies.
- Strong judgement, discretion and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of the IAP2 Core Values and Public Participation Spectrum, and ability to apply them in practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – from negotiation and influence to presenting complex issues in ways that are clear and accessible.
- Experience forging partnerships and maintaining networks across grassroots groups, government and industry.
- A track record in project management, contract management and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- At least 3 years’ leadership experience in community engagement, communications, economic development or a similar field.
A strong understanding of the energy industry, political environment and TasNetworks’ objectives – or the ability to quickly acquire it – will set you up for success.
