Position Duties
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• PRCS, 742 Miller Drive, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supports art initiatives, including the artist call and selection process.
• Collects and secures artwork and oversees donations and loans.
• Maintains documentation and archives of the County's artwork displays and arts events, along with files on artists and the collection.
• Stays informed regarding national, regional, and local arts agencies, programs, grants, networks, and relevant regulations about public art, and works to increase art display opportunities in new public areas.
• Plans, develops, and coordinates art exhibition programs and creative public programming.
• Manages exhibition guidelines, registrar, database, receipt of artworks, and outreach programs related to art exhibitions.
• Assists in scheduling arts events and programs in galleries and establishes and enforces art handling and gallery use procedures.
• May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment.
*The position may require working during evenings, weekends, and holidays based on programming requirements. *
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with visual art curation in a museum, gallery, or similar type of facility.
• Experience with collections management.
• Experience with public art.
• Experience with event management.
• Experience with public programming and educational activities.
• One plus years of local government or nonprofit art-specific experience.
• Familiarity with local government or the field of parks and recreation.
