Job Summary: While maintaining good public relations with the community and implementing the vision of the agency, this position will support the Chief Accountant by performing a variety of analytical tasks and contributing to key functions across all areas of the fiscal department
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and manage stale/canceled check processes.
- Record and reconcile credit card transactions in compliance with agency procedures.
- Manage donation fund disbursement requests, journal entries, and donor year-end receipts.
- Prepare and distribute 1099 forms in compliance with IRS regulations.
- Prepare and submit monthly state claims and track receivables.
- Prepare documentation for the annual 990 tax return and year-end financial reports.
- Support the Chief Accountant with financial report generation, data analysis, and preparation of federal and state-mandated reports and surveys.
- Coordinate annual independent and biennial state audits, including interdepartmental data collection and auditor communications.
- Manage the Independent Financial Report requirement for vendors, including monitoring compliance, conducting outreach, and coordinating follow-up.
- Prepare reports for special projects and program applications as required by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
- Assist in implementing new programs and reporting requirements from DDS.
- Develop expertise in Concur, the employee reimbursement platform, and serve as a subject matter expert within the organization.
- Develop and update fiscal procedures and training materials.
- Provide backup support in the absence of the Junior Accountant, including responsibility for weekly check runs, daily receipts, and other assigned accounting duties.
- Assist in providing technical support to the Junior Accountant and collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
- Experience with non-profit and regional center processes and procedures is a plus
Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines with a clear sense of urgency
- Strong analytical skills and ability to present financial data to varied audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish good working relationships across departments and external parties
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, budgeting and auditing principles
- Ability to apply and adopt accounting theories to complex transactions and develop/refine accounting procedures
- Proficiency with Office 365 applications and accounting ERP systems in a professional environment
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills including Power Query and PivotTables
