Big Data Administrator
Job Purpose:
The Big Data Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting large-scale data infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. The role involves administering Big Data platforms, automating processes, and enabling seamless data flow across systems while ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
Essential Functions:
Administer, monitor, and optimize Big Data platforms and infrastructure.
Support data pipelines, clusters, and distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, etc.).
Implement automation using Python scripting and DevOps practices.
Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance tuning.
Collaborate with Platform Engineering and Infrastructure teams to deploy and maintain solutions.
Perform regular patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Ensure adherence to compliance, governance, and security standards.
Four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Special Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Strong experience as an Infrastructure Engineer / Platform Engineer in Big Data environments.
Hands-on expertise with Kafka administration and support.
Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and monitoring.
Solid understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation, containerization, monitoring tools).
Experience with cluster management, scaling, and performance tuning.
Good knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in 24/7 support environments.
