Purpose/Objective of the Role:
The Public Safety Department is seeking a Student Manager to oversee student employees assigned to evening building lockups, student lockout responses, parking enforcement,
and office support operations. The Student Manager will serve as a liaison between Public Safety staff and student employees, ensuring responsibilities are completed efficiently,
policies are followed, and service to the campus community is carried out professionally.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Supervise and provide leadership to student employees across Public Safety roles, including Lockup/Lockout Assistants, Parking Enforcement Assistants, and Office Assistants.
Assist with training new student employees, ensuring they understand procedures, expectations, and safety protocols.
Create and manage student work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for shifts and timely communication of changes.
Verify shift coverage, monitor attendance, and track student employee performance.
Serve as the first point of contact for student employees during assigned shifts, escalating concerns or incidents to Public Safety staff when appropriate.
Perform duties of student positions as needed (lockups, lockouts, parking enforcement, and office support).
Review documentation and reports submitted by student employees to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Communicate effectively with Public Safety staff regarding student operations, challenges, and successes.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct within the student staff team.
Qualifications/Skills:
Must have prior experience in at least one Public Safety student position (Lockup/Lockout, Parking Enforcement, or Office Assistant).
Student applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to become a registered OWU driver.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage peers in a professional manner.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment under minimal supervision.
Dependable, responsible, and able to enforce policies and procedures consistently.
