About the Department

Performs lead-level duties as a Code Compliance Inspector within the Marijuana Code Compliance Division of the Planning and Development Department, including providing oversight, guidance, training, and directing work activities of the Division's staff.

 Executes field inspections and investigations related to medical and retail marijuana licensing, collaborating with appropriate law enforcement agencies as necessary.

Position Duties

  • Independently travels to conduct comprehensive field inspections and investigations of properties, including audits to verify compliance with applicable marijuana laws and regulations, and re-investigates as necessary to guarantee adherence. This encompasses, but is not limited to, reviewing business records, premises operations, and client requirements.
  • Provides guidance, expertise, and training to the Marijuana Code Compliance Division staff.
  • Coordinates investigative efforts across federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Collects essential evidence and creates comprehensive reports on observations and findings.
  • Prepares correspondence regarding violations.
  • Prepares status reports on violation calls and cases, facility inspections, calls, and complaints, and convenes weekly or bi-weekly meetings to update the County Attorney staff.
  • Meets regularly with Licensing Staff to coordinate investigative activities.
  • Creates and maintains precise documentation of inspection and compliance assessments.
  • Documents division policies and procedures.
  • Provides support to code compliance team members as needed.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned, including filling in for other staff as necessary and/or required.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more experience in code compliance investigations.

REQUIRED LICENSE:

  • Valid Driver's License upon date of hire AND Valid Colorado Driver's License within 60 days of hire.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must successfully pass a background check
