As the Art Program Manager, you will manage public art commissions, acquisitions, and the conservation and maintenance of collections at SEA Airport. You will also provide program support and project management and supervise public art technician staff.

  • You will support department leadership in research, evaluation, design, development, and implementation of new policies, procedures, standards and best practices.

  • You will work directly with department leadership to identify budget and maintenance needs.

  • You will provide project management on large-scale integrated public art projects and work directly with artists, contractors, engineers, architects, and operations staff in managing the production of commissioned artwork that enhances the travelling public’s customer experience.

  • You will work the Public Art team to use multi-media presentation materials and provide information to the Port-wide art board.

  • You will work with the Art Program Coordinator to prepare collection maintenance, conservation, and restoration as critical components for sustaining Aviation’s artwork collection’s value and determining long-term program success.

  • You will support department leadership and staff in ensuring that all maintenance and conservation work follows the established procedures for maintenance, repairs, and restoration of art under the Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA).

  • You will collaborate on new exhibits that are appropriate for the airport and support the Public Art team and External Relations as needed on press releases and special events related to Aviation exhibits.

  • You will provide leadership, guidance, training and mentor department staff, ensuring that team members are challenged and supported.

  • Experienced – You have four (4) years of experience in public art administration and two (2) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or Arts Administration.

  • Leader – You possess the ability to motivate and mentor staff to deliver results on time and on budget. You have strategic leadership and can create a shared purpose, vision, or direction for the group and inspire others to work towards it.

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).

  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment with the occasional need to work in the airport terminal and/or outdoors.

  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
