The Culinary Assistant is responsible for preparing food items in a timely manner while adhering to Health Department Sanitation Codes. Your role will include serving meals during employee lunches and meetings, ensuring the proper sanitation and cleanliness, and utilizing safe food handling practices at all times. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will follow recipes to standardize food preparation and ensure that all food items are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated as necessary.

We are seeking a dedicated and cheerful line cook that thrives on working in a fast paced environment to join our kitchen team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Exhibit pleasant and cheerful demeanor and maintains a helpful attitude towards all.
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with management and fellow team members. Ensure personal appearance meets company standard and displays professionalism at all times.
• Prepares food items in a sanitary and timely manner while adhering to Health Department Sanitation Code.
• Serve meals to employees and luncheon meetings.
• Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers. Utilizes safe food handling practices.
• Restock food items and supplies as needed to maintain appropriate levels.
• Works to ensure that all food items are properly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated as needed.
• Follows recipes to standardize food preparation and has the ability to determine how to properly cook food products.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-2 years previous institutional or food service experience
• Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and recipes
• Team-oriented and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization
• Service-oriented, polite, and respectful
• Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to take direction and instruction and follow through independently

HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 9am – 2pm.  Flexible with varying schedule to assist with special events or other operational demands.
