About the Department
Summary Objective:
INTERNAL POSITION ONLY: The Senior Violence Prevention Coordinator supports the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) through strategic coordination, stakeholder engagement, and continuous program improvement. This role leads the development and execution of evidence-based violence prevention strategies in priority service areas, serving as a subject matter expert and guiding project teams, community partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure the successful outcomes.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Leads planning, execution, and evaluation of high-impact violence prevention initiatives.
Provides training, mentorship, and technical support to OVP staff, junior team members, and interns.
Facilitates large stakeholder gatherings and public forums with minimal supervision.
Serves as a senior liaison to community stakeholders, offering strategic direction and technical expertise.
Develops and oversee comprehensive community violence prevention frameworks.
Conducts policy and process research, applying nationwide best practices to local programming.
Coordinates interdepartmental efforts to align with Metro-wide public health and safety goals.
Designs and implement strategic plans to scale successful pilot programs across communities.
Analyzes data and trends in collaboration with data analysts to inform program design and policy recommendations.
Develops and monitor performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Represents OVP at conferences, panels, and public forums as a subject matter expert.
Identifies funding opportunities and assist in grant writing and reporting to support program sustainability.
Facilitates conflict resolution and restorative justice practices within community engagement efforts.
Supports crisis response planning and implementation with emergency services and community partners.
Provides technical assistance to external organizations transitioning to self-sustaining programming.
Utilizes knowledge of Metro fiscal and procurement policies to guide community organizations and coalitions.
Prepares detailed reports, presentations, and grant proposals.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, Criminal Justice, Communication, Criminology, Education, Human Services, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in public health, violence prevention, social work, non-profit management, grant management, program management, policy analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT):
