Business Project Manager – Architecture (Hybrid)

ms is seeking an Architectural Project Manager to complement our growing Building systems team in our Columbus office. In this role, you will work on multidisciplinary projects from conception through completion—managing scope, schedule, and budget while fostering trusted client relationships. You will work closely with the Building Systems Senior Vice President to drive project success, expand client opportunities, and contribute to the strategic growth of the business unit.
We are looking for a collaborative problem solver with strong communication skills, proven experience in client account leadership, and the ability to manage complex project demands.
About the Building Systems Business Unit
The Building Systems Business Unit provides integrated architecture, engineering, and planning consulting services to a diverse client base across commercial, and public clients including financial, retail, restaurant, office, municipal and grocery. Our projects range from multi-unit retail developments, schools, and municipal facilities to industrial sites, commercial interiors, and urban redevelopment. We are dedicated to creating innovative, functional, and sustainable spaces that serve communities and businesses alike.
What You'll Do:
The Architectural Project Manager will lead coworkers and clients while utilizing the most current technical software and techniques to manage the Scope, Schedule, and Budget of multidiscipline projects.
- Provide leadership and oversight of business and production operations
- Create project plans that correlate to the client’s scope of work, budget, and schedule. Hourly production hours per phase, in coordination with Technical Responsible Party’s (TRP’s) service group.
- Update and maintain billing projections within a 5% accuracy of actual billed.
- Manages and maintains the client project relationship.
- Participate in sales activities to obtain new clients – as directed by the Business Unit Director’s yearly sales goals.
- Completes billing packages for client invoicing for every billing cycle in coordination with accounting department.
- Leads the effort to create and define project scope.
- Assist in organization of the project providing input to the project principal and Business Unit Leader.
- Performs required follow-up with client regarding outstanding invoices.
- Mediates fee and scope disagreements between disciplines and makes decisions always in regard to the best interest of the project and the firm.
- Leads the effort to prepare fee proposals, conducting fee negotiations in conjunction with Technical Services Managers and Technical Responsible Parties.
- Prepare contractual agreements and scope of services.
- Negotiates or assists in negotiations with client to account for scope/contract changes.
- Participates in weekly reviews of the project with respect to schedule, construction cost, and profit plan.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study
- Demonstrated experience in project management, client account leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Preferred Registered Architect or Engineer preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Creative problem solver experienced in establishing meaningful client relationships
- Experience coordinating with project technical teams and handling project scope modification requests
- Experience with conflict resolution, project budgets and invoicing clients preferred.
