Transform Alloys Into Performance – Intern in Product Engineering at ATI
At ATI, we engineer specialty materials that power the next generation of aircraft, spacecraft, surgical implants, and energy systems. As a Product Engineering Intern, you'll be part of the team that transforms alloy designs into manufacturable, high-performance products. You’ll apply your materials science or mechanical engineering background to optimize microstructure, improve product specifications, and enhance process capability in real production environments.
What You’ll Work On
Depending on your project assignment, you may:
- Study recrystallization kinetics in high-temperature alloy systems.
- Analyze product variation and optimize standard processes for products.
Support Right First Time (RFT) improvement initiatives focused on grain size control.
- Conduct process qualification studies for product or recipe changes.
- Analyze melt or deformation process data to identify quality trends and opportunities.
Assist in hot working trials (forging and rolling) for advanced alloys.
- Study heat treatment response and correlate microstructure to mechanical properties.
- Review historic process and chemistry data to resolve metallurgical challenges.
