POSITION DATA SPECIFICATION

Position Title: Manager/Senior Manager - Application

Organization/Location: Xylem Water Solutions India Private Limited; Mumbai

Reporting Line: Head - Proposal & Application Engineering

Reporting to the Head of Proposal & Application Engineering as part of Xylem-Treatment team, shall be responsible for the preparation of Proposal & Process Application, developing proposal outline and compliance matrix.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Proposal Engineer with 8-15 years’ experience in the Industrial water and wastewater treatment sector, with a focus on recycling and reuse. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical and commercial proposals that address client needs in various industrial markets (e.g., Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemicals, Food & Beverage, Power, Pharmaceuticals, Textile, CETP, Paper & Pulp etc.).

This role requires strong coordination with sales, process design, procurement, project management, and other internal stakeholders to produce high-quality, competitive proposals. Candidates should be from a repute company like Aquatech, Thermax, Wabag, Osmoflo, Wipro, Ion Exchange etc.

Purpose of Position    : Proposal, Cost estimation, Process Design and Application Engineering from Bidding to Manufacturing Release.

• Collaborating closely with the sales team, the role involves identifying and delivering dependable technical solutions to ensure complete customer satisfaction throughout every phase of the sales cycle.
• Study Industrial & Municipal tenders, enquiries from customers, design the process, product selection, estimation and developing proposal and compliance matrix, and ensuring the progress of the proposal.
• Assist the Capture/Sales Team during technical discussion with the customers.
•  Participate in the development and review of proposal strategies and themes and manage the development of a Proposal Management Plan (PMP).
• Assist in analyzing the RFP/bid requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the customer’s issues and needs.
• Build the proposal compliance matrix and track the fulfillment of all requirements.
• Process selection, design, cost estimate and proposal to ensure requirements are adequately addressed.
• Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and maintain the proposal schedule.
• Develop a Bid submission plan for the interim review and internal evaluation of the technical, management, and overall proposal approaches.
• Participate in the technological transfer of various established or emerging technologies within Xylem and various growth centers, particularly in the strategic sector of wastewater and water treatment. This transfer will be commercial in nature (to the sales team) and technical (to the conception and fabrication team).
• Attend pre-qualification, design and risk review meetings.
• Attend meetings with clients as required.
• Analyze data related to an application.  Use that analysis to size and position equipment for a project.  Supply an equipment list, Process & Mass Balance calculations, Electrical Load List, Instrument List, Hydraulic Calculations, OPEX calculation, P&ID, HFD & layout sketches and a quotation covering the recommended equipment.
• Continually improve sizing programs and tools relating to the application of the company equipment.  Show specific evidence of how you improved these tools.

Skills:

• Has a good knowledge of design and proposal preparation for Industrial water and wastewater treatment sector, with a focus on recycling and reuse
• Good knowledge of cost estimate.
• Knowledge of Indian Water and Wastewater sectors not limited to Municipal but Industrial sector as well.
• Experience in an EPC or engineering firm.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and costs.
• Self-sufficient, responsible, organized.
• Result oriented.
• Focus on technical problem resolution.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills. Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD, P&ID.
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

• 8-15 years of experience in proposal engineering, preferably in industrial water treatment.
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies, including membranes (UF, BWRO, SWRO, MBR, MB, EDI), filtration, biological treatment, chemical dosing, evaporation, etc.
• Experience with cost estimation, proposal writing, and working in multidisciplinary teams.
• English (both written and spoken).
