About the role
Ventia is seeking a Project Accountant to support our DJCS (Department of Justice and Community Safety) contract based in Corio (Geelong) area, Victoria.

 

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing key financial processes including Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Month-End Closure, and Budgeting within the organisation.

 

This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations, and supports the Finance & Commercial Manager in delivering financial insights and operational efficiency across the project.

 

This role initially is a fixed-term contract for 12 months on a fulltime basis.  

 

Duties:

  • Managing EOM reporting, Cost to Revenue Analysis, Forecasting and Budgeting.
  • Payroll inline with the Enterprise Agreement.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable.
  • Complete month-end tasks including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain vendor service master within the designated systems (Reactive Maintenance & Program Maintenance.)
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update financial and payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Analyse financial data, identify trends, and investigate discrepancies to support project performance and financial strategy.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in an Accounting, or similar
  • Excellent experience in financial management of contracts
  • Proven experience in usage of financial/accounting systems and processes to service contracts
  • Experienced in SAP, as well as high literacy in MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate with stakeholders
  • Ability to complete and pass a National Police check to meet contractual requirements.
