Responsibilities:

The Material Operations Manager is responsible for the organization, planning and implementation of Warehouse and Stockroom workflow. This role will manage the department’s compliance with Spirit Airlines Controlled Manuals, FAA, DOT, OSHA, and HAZMAT program requirements. This includes management of stock level and shelf-life to provide recommendation adjustments to Material Planning and address department controls. This role oversees Warehouse and Stockroom Team Member schedules to guarantee support to Technical Operations' needs. The scope of the Manager includes monitoring Material Logistic Specialist payroll, Team Members' coaching and disciplinary actions. As well as oversees hazardous waste disposal management, department planning, budget forecast, and GSE control. 

  • Ensures implementation and monitorization of HAZMAT policies and procedures, with focus on preparation and tender of outbound HAZMAT shipments to 3PL in compliance with DOT, IATA, and ICAO regulations. 
  • Establishes and monitors HAZMAT waste disposal process for Warehouses and Stockrooms. 
  • Oversees Warehouse and Stockrooms' monthly Inventory Cycle Counts performance to meet departmental goals. 
  • Supports control and measure of import and export transactions for material shipments. 
  • Tracks and maintains department KPIs. 
  • Identifies and proposes mitigation plans to process gaps. 
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition Team on hiring of Material Logistics Specialists, Lead and Admin roles. 
  • Provides mentorship and develops department leaders. 
  • Coordinates OJT process for new hires and ensures ongoing compliance for Team Member training programs. 
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly department reports. 
  • Coordinates SOP implementation to guarantee Warehouse and Stockroom compliance with department policies.  
  • Provides recommendations and drives continuous improvement initiatives for Warehouse and Stockrooms. 
  • Monitors and validates monthly self-stockroom audits to ensure compliance of Spirit Controlled Manuals and SOP and mitigate internal audit findings. 
  • Participates in the creation of department budgeting with staff-level recommendations and identifying equipment needs. 
  • Ensures Warehouses and Stockrooms are maintained in compliance with OSHA safety standards and housekeeping standards. 
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergency change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments). 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience 
  • 100% onsite—because connection and collaboration are core to life at Spirit.
  • Domestic & International Travel under 25% of the time.

Additional Certifications

  • OSHA Forklift
  • IATA DG
    Lean Six Sigma preferred

Specialized Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication: able to read, send and execute instructions via email and memos. 
  • Proficient with computers: basic knowledge of word editing software, inventory sheets and email management. 
  • Warehouse Operations Knowledge: experience with shipping, receiving and stocking practices. 
  • Hazardous Materials Knowledge: experience with general shipping and handling procedures and HAZCOM. 
  • Aviation Materials Knowledge: familiarity with part numbers, descriptions and handling.
