As a Public Health Registered Nurse within the Living Bridge at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Location: The Living Bridge in Gainesville, GA.
Position Duties
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for a population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers initial medical and social support to new and returning patients.
- Creates and implements treatment plans for high-acuity cases.
- Manages caseloads to ensure adherence to plan and coordination with community partners to secure services and follow-up on referrals.
- Identifies high risk populations and tailors' interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
- Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines, and provides preventative and maintenance care to patients and families consistent with the care plan and/or physician treatment plan.
- Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
- Participates in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
- Participates in the planning, organizing, and evaluation of program areas to ensure the goals and objective(s) of the program are being met.
- Provides health care, first aid, immunizations, and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of clients' health care needs.
- Conducts community needs assessments.
- Develops comprehensive plans of care for individuals, families, and populations.
- Modifies client treatment plans as indicated by clients' responses and conditions.
- Provides health education, instruction, and/or classes to individuals and families for the promotion and maintenance of health.
- Coordinates program services with other service providers and community organizations to promote optimal implementation.
- Develops and sustains community partnerships.
- Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Serves as a mentor to new nurses and/or preceptor for nursing students.
- May manage specific program activities and/or specific program evaluations.
- May supervise support staff or employees.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.
OR
One (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
