Job Title: Digital Content Creator

Department: Communications

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Senior Director, Operations and Project Management

Grade: 4

Union: N/A

Hourly Range: $20.22 - $24.73

Weekly hours: 30

The Strategic Communications team needs an accomplished content creator to film, edit and animate videos for the website and social media. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, stays current with social media and technology trends, and thrives in both collaborative and independent settings. They will be responsible for providing support to the SC team designers, the Bicentennial Marketing committee and the Social Media Manager on projects involving motion work. 

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Capturing video and photography of campus events for use in marketing materials.

  • Filming and editing videos for the “200 Stories” campaign for the Bicentennial.

  • Creating animations / motion graphics where needed for the web and social
     

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend and document on-campus events to generate photos and videos for digital and social use.

  • Assist Social Media Manager in concepting, shooting, and editing social media content—including reels, stories, and short-form videos.

  • Film, edit and finalize videos for the 200 Stories project, working with SC, Advancement and the Bicentennial project writer. These stories will range from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.

  • Collaborate with SC team members to support projects and contribute fresh ideas for motion graphics and multimedia work.

  • Adapt designs for various mediums.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Designer, Videographer, Photographer

  • Motion and Brand Identity Design

  • Social Media Creation

  • Reels/long form videos

  • Computer skills: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro and  Lightroom

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film and Video, Animation, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience creating integrated multimedia content, including graphics, animations, photography, and filming and editing video.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design tools.

  • Familiarity with technical requirements for video hosting sites like Vimeo and YouTube, and social media sites like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education, arts, or cultural organizations.

  • Familiarity with social media advertising.

  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content.

 

Reporting to this position:  No direct reports.

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Satisfactory Background check results required.

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required to support events and time-sensitive content.
